Italian Language Learning
Conoscere un'altra lingua è vivere un'altra vita. (To know another language is to live another life.)
There are many options from the free classes through Military Family and Readiness Center, the classes through the Community Center, University of Maryland or Italian language courses offered on the economy. It's a personal choice depending your experience, time available, expectations...
However, one of the best options is actually free and gives you the ability to study from the convenience of your home, the Mango language program.
The Mango app provides a comprehensive and immersive approach to learning Italian using a step-by-step, easy-to-hard scaffolding method, meaning each lesson builds on the previous one. It starts with foundational vocabulary and grammar, and as you progress, lessons introduce more complex structures and conversational skills..There are over 600 lessons to include reading, listening and progress assessment. Without the base library, the fee normally would be $19.99 per month or $179.99 per year; however, through the base library it's free. A requirement is to become a member of the library to gain access to the Air Force Libraries, see link after gaining access.
Did you know? Only 7 percent is literal. 93% comes from body language and tone of voice. Here are two complimentary methods to expand and deepen your language foundation.
Expanding Your Community:
Take language learning beyond the textbook by creating connections in everyday life. Building rapport with your neighbors, landlord, or local shopkeepers at the bakery, latteria, or local market can help build your confidence.
Learning by Doing:
Language learning is more than mastering grammar—it’s about connecting with people and culture. It's not about being perfect, in fact don’t hesitate to share your English with Italians who are curious—it’s a two-way exchange that builds relationships and mutual respect.
